Capilano, Vancouver

Friday, May 29

First things first. Before I get on the bus to Capilano Park, I call in at the salon around the corner and treat myself to a 90 minute massage that includes a half hour of bliss for the poor old feet.

Thus prepared, I hop on the bus to Capilano. It is a very nice drive, lots of lovely homes on the way up there. No doubt only the upper crust can afford them.

Shortly after entering the park, I'm greeted by these totems
The famous suspension bridge - swinging well with so many people on it
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a simple suspension bridge crossing the Capilano River in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The current bridge is 140 metres long and 70 metres above the river.

At the other end of the bridge, the beginning of a beautiful nature trail

Very soothing

giant trees

everywhere

Well said, Mr Hesse!

Climbing up into the canopies

Pretty lofty up here

Back across the suspension bridge, there is one more walk to be done, that's the cliff walk.
Unlike the suspension bridge, this is very stable. But there are many more steps.

Coming off the cliff walk

A soothing waterfall and then the last steps down
Feeling quite accomplished, tired and happy, I rattle into the city on the funny little red bus, across the Lion's Gate bridge.

Catching up with a couple of my travel mates for dinner again.
Then it's another walk down to the Water Station and onto the Sea Bus back to North Vancouver to my digs.
