Back in Vancouver

Wednesday, May 27

Quite a few of us meet up for breakfast at the 'Lido' with our meager possessions - just handbags and little backpacks.
The Volendam has already docked. We have all been given colour coded labels for our luggage. Now, they're calling the different colours for disembarkation.
It is all terribly well organised.
When we get off the ship, we find our luggage grouped in a large hall. From there, we go through customs and then out onto the taxi rink where we board a couple of cabs to take us to the hotel where Leonie has booked a day room for those who travel home later this evening.
A couple of those who are staying on a little longer are also booked into the same hotel.
It means we can all leave our luggage while we go out for the day.

Nannette and I decide to just spend a little time going up on the tower. The weather is not exactly glorious, but the views are still pretty spectacular.

Down there, just behind the white sails is the Volendam waiting to go off on another 7 day cruise with new passengers.

When we finally get back to the hotel, having had a bit of trouble finding it because neither of us had a map, I grab my luggage and get a taxi to go to North Vancouver where I'm booked into a little airbnb.
Kathy the landlady is there to receive me. Luckily the unit is on the ground floor. That means we can just wheel my cases in.

My room is very tiny but has enough space for my things. Bathroom, Kitchen etc are shared.
Kathy is a very nice, no-nonsense lady.

After a walk around the corner to the nearest shops for some supplies and then some dinner, I settle down for an evening on the internet which happens to be very fast.
I have a lot of catching up to do on my blog as I couldn't work on it on the ship.
