Au Chateau

At Lake Louise we were accommodated at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for two nights. What an experience that place was.
Looking for the bathroom, I had to open what looked like a double wardrobe door. Behind it hid this gem of a bathroom.

Naturally, the bedroom was pretty huge with a lovely desk near the window.

The view from the window was pretty spectacular over towards the mountains and the frozen lake.

The mountain below is Temple Mountain, which is why this wing of the hotel was called Mt Temple wing.
Mount Temple is a mountain in Banff National Park of the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. Mt. Temple is located in the Bow River Valley between Paradise Creek and Moraine Creek and is the highest peak in the Lake Louise area. Wikipedia

On the way to my room I had some spectacular sights as well, from a beautiful bear carved from wood and the row of stained glass windows as well as wood carvings over the doors of the ballroom.

Inside the hotel there were shops everywhere and several restaurants too.

This is the chandelier in the main lobby and below is the reception with those great paintings.

This is just one of the statues atop some stairs. I could have taken lots more photos of such works of art.

But the great outdoors beckoned. I had to get out and see the frozen lake close up.

First thing the next morning I was out there again, looking at the same scenery in the early morning light. It was pretty cold, the handrail on the little bridge was covered in quite thick frost.

Nevertheless, in a garden bed near the building, these little daffodils were in full bloom.

It's a very hard life at the chateau :-)
