On Sunday morning we were picked up by a coach and the adventure began in earnest.
The Kananaskis Helicopter Tour was one of the highlights of the day. Below are just a few pictures of that brief flight.
Kananaskis Country is a park system situated to the west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada in the foothills and front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. Wikipedia
The Hoodoos - Cheminées de fées - were a sight we briefly explored on foot. They are pillars of glacial material.
So much inspiration for paintings on the very first day of the tour. Just seeing the mountains makes my heart beat faster.
Coming back to Banff, we headed for the gondola on Sulphur Mountain. It suddenly got quite cold and windy and as soon as we boarded the gondola, it started to rain.
Then we began to see all this snow below and soon the raindrops turned into snowflakes.
Needless to say that we did not venture far outside at the top to do any walking. But that was ok too. There was a very large shop to pass some time in, and it was nice and warm and out of the wind.
From here we were taken to the very picturesque area of Lake Louise and the sky began to clear a little by the time we arrived there.
